Job Title: Remote Mechanical Design Engineer (100% Work From Home)

Location: Remote from Latin America

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $2,500 USD/month ($30,000 USD/year)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, business hours with PST/MST time zone overlap required

Our client is bringing animal research to the forefront of cutting-edge technology. While data-driven tools are standard in many scientific fields, animal research still relies on manual, low-throughput methods. Their mission is to revolutionize this space using robotics, AI, and genetic engineering to create 21st-century research labs that improve efficiency, reproducibility, and animal welfare.

Their proprietary system enables accurate, cost-effective animal tracking through a blend of classical computer vision, deep learning, and novel ID tagging technology. Their product integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructure, allowing for large-scale deployment of smart cages. With their innovations, they aim to accelerate drug discovery, improve therapeutics, and enhance human health span.

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with strong proficiency in SolidWorks to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical design and/or assembly and be capable of supporting both design and prototyping efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Create precise and functional CAD designs using SolidWorks
• Collaborate with the team to design and refine Olden hardware products and accessories
• Contribute to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for various production methods (e.g., injection molding, vacuum forming)

Additional Responsibilities (if possible):

• Conduct local 3D printing / rapid prototyping
  
• Support local assembly and product testing
  
• Identify and coordinate with local suppliers for prototyping or manufacturing needs

Projects You’ll Work On

• New product and accessory design
• Redesign and optimization of existing products
• Design for scalable production methods

Qualifications, Skills and Key Competencies:

• 3 - 5+ years of experience in mechanical design or product development
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly or prototyping
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English
