Job summary

micro1 is a data lab that helps AI labs and enterprises train foundational models and agents. We provide frontier evaluations and reinforcement learning environments to improve LLM capabilities, as well as contextual evaluations to monitor and improve AI agents in enterprise settings.

We are seeking a Mathematics Expert (MSc or PhD) for contract work (~15 hours/week), fully remote globally. Pay is $80–$120/hour.

Qualifications

MS or PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computational Science, or a closely related field; or
BS in Mathematics or related field plus at least 1–2 years of mathematics-focused professional or research experience in top companies/institutions.
Strong expertise in at least one mathematical area, such as applied mathematics, numerical analysis, optimization, probability, statistics, discrete mathematics, algebra, geometry, mathematical modeling, or dynamical systems.

Responsibilities

Solve and validate advanced mathematical and computational problems.
Translate mathematical requirements into precise, executable workflows.
Implement mathematical workflows using Python and command-line-accessible tools.
Use Python to automate calculations, numerical experiments, parameter sweeps, visualization, and result validation.
