Job summary

Varsity Tutors is seeking Texas-certified teachers to join its Live Learning Platform as remote tutors nationwide. You’ll draw on classroom expertise to deliver one-on-one or on-demand sessions, set your own schedule, and earn competitive rates from the comfort of home.

You’ll be paid for each tutoring session, with payments issued up to twice per week, and you’ll keep control of your hours while matched with students that fit your teaching style.

Qualifications

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (Required): Must hold a current, active teaching certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). You will be asked to provide your certificate number during the application process for verification at tealprod.tea.state.tx.us.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s), with the ability to connect K-12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Classroom Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in a Texas classroom setting, with a strong understanding of TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) standards and how to apply them in one-on-one instruction.
• Conceptual Teaching & Adaptive Instruction: Diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
