Job summary

Friends of the Earth is seeking a Major Gift Officer to advance fundraising by building donor relationships and managing a portfolio of major gift prospects. The role reports to the Philanthropy Manager and oversees a ~140 donor portfolio with a revenue focus of $1.4M–$2M.

This full-time remote position offers a salary between $105,000 and $135,000, with an introductory probationary period and union membership details. Travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

• Commitment to environmental advocacy.
• 5+ years nonprofit fundraising or development experience, including 3 years in major gifts.
• Experience managing donor portfolios across qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Strong communication skills, in person and remote.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 140 donors and prospects.
• Secure four- to five-figure gifts and larger from qualified donors.
• Manage portfolio revenue target of about $1.4M–$2M.
• Develop and implement donor engagement plans to deepen philanthropic investment.
• Coordinate with program and development colleagues to align donor interests with priorities.
