Carrington Mortgage Services seeks a Loss Mitigation Underwriter I to assess loan modification applications in line with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines. This entry-level role handles simpler files while learning complex ones, with a target pay range of $23–$26 per hour and a remote work setup.

You will verify income, calculate DTI, determine eligibility for repayment plans, and document decisions. High school diploma and 1–2 years underwriting experience required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of underwriting loss mitigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough analysis to ensure loan quality and compliance with guidelines.
• Conduct Verification of Income (VOI).
• Calculate front and back-end debt to income ratio.
• Verify occupancy, hardship and income.
• Apply payment waterfall to determine workout eligibility (repayment plan, forbearance, modification or liquidation).
• Identify assets held by borrower if applicable.
• Determine and communicate needed conditions to properly document the file.
• Complete system tasks to maintain compliance.
• Document final decision and update system of record.
