Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking an entry‑level Loss Mitigation Underwriter I to evaluate loan modification applications in line with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines. The role handles less complex files under supervision and pays $23.00–$26.00 per hour, with remote work from home options.

Responsibilities include VOI, determining workout eligibility, and documenting decisions to ensure compliance with all policies and laws.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years of underwriting loss mitigation experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough analysis to ensure loan quality and compliance with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines.
• Conduct Verification of Income (VOI).
• Calculate front- and back-end debt-to-income ratio.
• Verify occupancy, hardship and income.
• Apply payment waterfall to determine workout eligibility (repayment plan, forbearance, modification or liquidation).
• Identify liquid assets the borrower holds, if applicable.
• Determine and communicate needed conditions to document the file (e.g., reason for default letter, updated pay stubs, bankruptcy papers).
• Complete system tasks to maintain compliance with guidelines.
• Document final decision and update system of record.
