Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is recruiting a skilled Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive for an interim remote role within a Local Authority Legal Services team. You will handle your own caseload across planning, highways, property, contracts and procurement, litigation, and regulatory matters.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX with a valid practising certificate.
• At least 2 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).
• Experience in Planning Law, Highways Law, Property Law, Contracts & Commercial Law, Public Procurement, Litigation and Judicial Review, or Debt Recovery.
• Proficient in drafting and legal research.
• Capable of managing a busy caseload and meeting deadlines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality legal advice across one or more specialized legal fields.
• Independently manage a diverse caseload.
• Draft legal documents, agreements, notices, and correspondence.
• Provide counsel to Members, senior managers, and officers on complex matters.
• Represent the Local Authority in meetings, working groups, and external gatherings.
• Assist with planning, highways, property, commercial, procurement, and litigation issues as needed.
• Conduct legal research and offer practical, solution-oriented advice.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee commissioning and management of external legal advice when necessary.
• Log time and maintain case management records.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of Legal Services and quality standards.
