Job summary

Credit Acceptance Corporation is seeking an experienced attorney to join its in-house litigation team in Michigan. You will handle a diverse portfolio of litigation and pre-litigation disputes and ensure compliance with consumer protection laws.

The role includes advising the business on risk management and coordinating with outside counsel. The position requires 5+ years of litigation experience, strong research and writing skills, and familiarity with Westlaw.

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with at least 5 years of law firm litigation experience.
• Strong legal research and writing skills with Westlaw familiarity.
• Experience handling written discovery, depositions, motions, and trial/arbitration.
• Ability to work with clients and manage external counsel within budget.

Responsibilities

• Enforce and defend the Company's interests in litigation and pre-litigation matters.
• De-escalate and resolve disputes with customers, dealers, and third-party providers.
• Oversee outside counsel, negotiate fees, and direct litigation strategy.
• Perform substantive litigation tasks: draft briefs, prepare witnesses, negotiate settlements.
• Keep legal management informed on significant issues and learnings.
