Job summary

Security Mutual Life is seeking a Claims Customer Service Representative to be the initial contact for claimants, beneficiaries, policyowners and others on life and supplemental health claims. You will handle calls, process notices of loss and provide timely claim status information while protecting confidential data.

The role offers primarily remote work with periodic time in the Binghamton, NY or Houston, TX offices. Spanish fluency is a plus and an Associate's degree is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service.
• Experience in an insurance industry or call center environment.
• Health insurance industry customer service experience preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incoming calls and return calls regarding life and health claims.
• Process first notice of loss gathering policy and claimant details.
• Explain claims process and required documentation clearly.
• Document all interactions in the system and follow up as needed.
• Prepare and send follow-up letters and forms between calls.
• Escalate issues to the appropriate team when needed.
