Erie Insurance is seeking a remote Ohio-based claims professional who will handle complex Home and Auto liability claims, providing coverage evaluation, liability assessment, and negotiation strategies. The role includes guidance to junior staff and ongoing adherence to established claim practices.

The position emphasizes independence, thorough file documentation, and the ability to work from home while supporting Ohio-focused claims.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational and experience requirements: High school diploma or equivalent with five years of claims-related experience; or an Associate degree with three years of claims-related experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with one year of claims-related experience.
• Working knowledge of liability coverages, laws, injury evaluation, reserving, negotiation and claim documentation required.
• Travel for training may be required, appropriate licenses and designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts investigations, evaluates coverage and liability, and makes recommendations.
• Handles claims involving complex liability, damages or coverages.
• Negotiates with all parties within designated authority.
• Documents the file and submits reports.
• Identifies subrogation opportunities and initiates appropriate action.
• Completes required training and may support property claims during heavy volume.
• Trains and mentors colleagues; travel for training may be required.
