Job summary

Remote Legal is seeking skilled Legal Proofreaders to join our dedicated team. In this role, you’ll review and proof legal deposition, hearing, and other proceeding transcripts, working with the Transcript Production department to ensure a seamless experience to our clients and accurate record capture every step of the way.

The Legal Proofreader is responsible for reviewing deposition and legal transcripts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and client-ready quality.

Qualifications

Experience proofreading legal deposition transcripts.
Experience proofing to audio.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Understanding of parts of a legal transcript, including formatting and styles.
Ability to adhere to an established style guide.
Good communication with Remote Legal internal teams to collaborate on deadlines and transcript quality standards.

Responsibilities

Review and proof transcripts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, formatting, and consistency.
Review and clear indiscernible portions using available audio when possible.
Verify transcript captions and index, making corrections as needed.
Address questions or notes from editors or escalate issues.
Ensure Track Changes is enabled to produce a redline version of the transcript.
Provide instructional comments to help editors improve accuracy.
Submit redlined transcripts, comments, and proofreading scorecards.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all materials.
