Job summary

American Oncology Network (AON) is seeking a Lead Security Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership across an enterprise security program. You will oversee SIEM/SOAR, EDR, email security, PAM, and cloud security configurations while guiding a three-person security team in a distributed healthcare environment.

You will work with the Director of IT Security and external partners to triage incidents, manage vulnerabilities, and develop repeatable security standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in information security or security engineering
• 2+ years leading security staff
• Experience with MSP/MSSP/MDR providers and security investigations
• Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST, NIST CSF
• Experience with SIEM/XDR, vulnerability management, cloud security
• Healthcare/security environment experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a security staff of three
• Oversee security tooling, monitoring, and vulnerability management
• Coordinate incident response with MDR partner and internal teams
• Ensure HIPAA/NIST-aligned assessments and remediation tracking
• Develop runbooks, standards, and procedures for security operations
• Manage third-party risk and vendor security posture
