Job summary

IHME in Seattle is seeking a Managing Research Scientist to lead quantitative analyses and supervise a research team, overseeing study design and dissemination. The role emphasizes managing scope, timelines, and resources while coordinating with partners on a cardiovascular health initiative.

You will write and maintain code in R (Python a plus), supervise staff, and drive publications and funding proposals with robust, policy-relevant findings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, math, economics, quantitative social sciences, or related discipline plus four years’ related experience.
• Previous supervisory experience with hiring, developing employees, priority setting, setting quality standards, and performance coaching.
• Advanced proficiency in designing, executing, and troubleshooting code in R.
• Experience with statistical modelling techniques and large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Supervise employees, hire/train, manage workload, set quality standards, and conduct performance assessments.
• Define, scope, and document work for assigned research project to deliver high-quality results.
• Lead research dissemination: present findings, draft manuscripts, and contribute to funding proposals.
