Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Lead Piping Engineer to lead all piping engineering functions for fusion projects, handling pipe stress analysis, standards, and material specifications. You will oversee, coordinate, and delegate work to the piping engineering team or contractors to ensure robust, compliant systems.

You will collaborate with mechanical, civil/structural engineers, equipment vendors, and project teams, developing standard practices and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or structural engineering.
• Minimum ten years of piping engineering experience with pipe stress analysis.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, MSS, API, NACE, ISO.
• Experience using pipe stress software (AutoPIPE).
• Ability to communicate with management, coworkers, vendors, and contractors.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Word, Excel, and email.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead piping engineering functions including pipe stress analysis, standards and material specs.
• Oversee design and implementation by coordinating with engineers and contractors.
• Develop and maintain piping stress calculations, reports, and design docs.
• Ensure compliance with ASME and other standards; review vendor drawings.
• Collaborate with vendors to integrate pulsation dampeners and optimize layouts.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to piping engineers.
