Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Architecture team in a remote-capable role. The ideal candidate will design and implement scalable, event-driven integrations using Kafka across data centers and cloud environments.

You will mentor others, provide technical guidance, and steer initiatives aligning development with the bank's architectural standards and business objectives. Strong Java/Python/Go skills and Kafka expertise are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years' experience.
• OR
• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 10 years' experience in Software application development and maintenance.
• Experience with Confluent Kafka clusters in multi-data center and cloud environments.
• Proficient in Java, Python, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure and maintain Confluent Kafka clusters across data centers and cloud.
• Implement authorization, authentication and schema governance.
• Build real-time data pipelines using Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams and KSQL/FLinkSQL.
• Monitor system metrics and ensure high availability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to others.
