Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced and visionary Lead Cloud Solutions Architect to spearhead their cloud strategy and implementation efforts. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the execution of scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures across various platforms. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, best practices, and a proven ability to lead technical teams. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions align with organizational goals and deliver maximum business value. This role is crucial for shaping the future of our client's technological infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement enterprise-level cloud solutions, primarily on AWS and/or Azure.
• Define and enforce cloud architecture best practices, standards, and guidelines.
• Lead the development of cloud infrastructure roadmaps and strategies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineering teams.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless deployment and management of cloud services.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies and services to enhance performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures and configurations.
• Conduct performance analysis and optimization of cloud environments.
• Manage cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, network security, and data protection.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Stay abreast of the latest cloud computing trends and technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud computing, with at least 3 years in a dedicated Solutions Architect role.
• Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale solutions on AWS and/or Azure.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM (AWS), or Virtual Machines, Blob Storage, Azure Functions, VNet, Azure AD (Azure).
• Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Expertise in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Excellent understanding of networking, security, and data management principles in a cloud context.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
