Job summary

Eaton’s Mobility division seeks a Lead Automation Engineer to drive manufacturing efficiency through automation initiatives. This remote high-travel role requires residency in MI, OH, IL, IN, SC, NC, GA, TN, or Kentucky and travel 50–75% across the USA.

You will identify opportunities, develop scopes, justify investments, and manage CARs while coordinating with suppliers and multiple manufacturing sites to optimize automation projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three years experience automating manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% across the USA.
  • Remote work supported from MI, OH, IL, IN, SC, NC, GA, TN or Kentucky.

Responsibilities

  • Identify automation opportunities within the North American region.
  • Develop scopes of work for automation opportunities.
  • Establish a reliable automation supply base and obtain proposals.
  • Prepare financial justification for automation projects.
  • Develop Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) for automation projects.
  • Manage capital and expense spending for assigned projects.
  • Procure equipment and tooling per project plan and standards.
  • Investigate and recommend new manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Coordinate best practices across multiple facilities.
  • Improve existing manufacturing operations, equipment and procedures.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for automation with controls and robotics.
  • Attend trade shows to stay current with automation technology.
