Job summary

Eaton Mobility is seeking a Lead Automation Engineer to drive manufacturing efficiency through automation projects in a hybrid work environment. The role requires residing within 50 miles of Southfield, MI, and supporting multiple U.S. locations with travel 50–75%.

Responsibilities include identifying automation opportunities, developing scopes, obtaining CAR approvals, and coordinating with Finance and leadership to manage project capital. PLC/HMI/robot programming expertise are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience in automating manufacturing processes.
• No immigration sponsorship is offered for this position.
• Candidates must reside within 50 miles of specified Eaton locations (Southfield MI, Marshall MI, South Bend IN, Indianapolis IN, Kings Mountain NC).

Responsibilities

• Identify automation opportunities within the North American region.
• Develop scopes of work for automation opportunities.
• Prepare financial justification for automation projects.
• Develop Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) for automation projects.
• Manage capital and expense spending for assigned projects.
• Procure equipment and tooling per project plan and standards.
• Investigate, analyze and recommend new and/or alternate equipment and manufacturing methods.
• Coordinate best practice implementation between multiple facilities.
• Provide troubleshooting support for automation with controls and robotic programming expertise.
