Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to design and operate the enterprise Lakehouse platform, powering analytics, AI, and data products across the organization. The role emphasizes cloud-native governance, automation, and cost efficiency, with collaboration across cloud infra, data engineering, and analytics teams.

The position supports remote work outside Memphis/Harrison but requires residing within 50 miles of a FedEx Freight location for on-site hybrid days,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• Five (5) years' work experience in Data Platform Engineering, Cloud DBA, or related field.
• Experience providing leadership in a general planning or consulting setting.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate the enterprise Lakehouse platform.
• Manage platform configuration, storage architecture, catalogs, schemas, and access controls.
• Administer governance capabilities such as Unity Catalog, Microsoft Purview, and enterprise security policies.
• Optimize platform performance, workload management, and query execution.
• Implement monitoring, observability, alerting, backup, disaster recovery, and service-level objectives.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Bicep) and CI/CD pipelines for platform deployment.
• Partner with cloud infrastructure teams on networking, identity, and compute.
• Enable data engineering, analytics, and AI teams through reusable platform capabilities.
• Manage platform cost optimization (FinOps) and capacity planning.
• Support regulatory compliance, auditing, and data protection requirements.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned
