Job summary

Atlas Tech is seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) specialized in Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-grade Kubernetes environments to drive scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will have DoD Secret clearance, US citizenship, and extensive hands-on Kubernetes expertise across multi-cloud and on-prem environments.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must currently possess and maintain a DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
• Extensive hands-on Kubernetes experience across clusters and workload deployment.
• Familiarity with managed Kubernetes on cloud platforms (AKS, EKS, GKE).
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Solid understanding of containers and build processes (Docker, Podman, Buildah).
• Experience with service meshes (Istio, Linkerd) or ingress controllers (NGINX, HAProxy, Traefik).
• Experience with Helm, Kustomize, and Kubernetes Operators packaging.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical authority for Kubernetes strategy, operations, and best practices.
• Architect, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters across bare-metal, virtualized, and multi-cloud environments.
• Leverage GitOps pipelines using Argo CD (or Flux) to automate infrastructure state and deployments.
• Configure and troubleshoot cluster networking, including CNIs, ingress controllers, and service mesh architectures.
• Enhance monitoring, logging, and tracing for cluster reliability and visibility.
• Troubleshoot complex cluster issues including networking, scheduling, and node health.
• Collaborate with application teams to onboard workloads and optimize resource usage.
• Drive documentation, standards, and reusable automation templates across environments.
• Provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to junior engineers.
