Remote Architectural Job Captain – Retail

Location: Remote – Candidates must reside in the Central or Eastern Time Zone

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Job Captain to join our remote team and lead the production and coordination of retail-focused architectural projects. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, technically strong professional with 5+ years of architectural experience, advanced Revit skills, and a background working on fast-paced retail projects.

Experience with convenience stores, gas stations, quick-service restaurants (QSR), fast food, drive-thru facilities, multi-site retail, or similar high-volume commercial environments is strongly preferred.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys managing multiple projects, coordinating with consultants and internal teams, and taking projects from early design through construction documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate architectural production for multiple retail projects simultaneously.
• Develop and maintain accurate Revit models and construction documents.
• Prepare and review plans, elevations, details, schedules, and other construction documentation.
• Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, MEP, civil, and other consultants.
• Manage project deadlines and ensure deliverables meet established quality standards.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Architects, engineers, clients, and other project stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve design and documentation issues before they impact project schedules.
• Participate in project coordination meetings and communicate project status, issues, and deadlines.
• Assist with prototype adaptation and rollout of retail concepts across multiple locations.
• Help establish and maintain consistent drawing standards, templates, and Revit workflows.
• Review work produced by junior staff and provide technical guidance when needed.
• Coordinate revisions and respond to project comments throughout the design and construction documentation process.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional architectural experience.
• Strong professional experience with Revit and construction documentation.
• Experience working on retail or commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of architectural detailing and construction documents.
• Ability to independently manage drawing production and coordinate multiple projects.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and general construction practices.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
• Must be located in the Central or Eastern Time Zone.

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Convenience stores
• Gas stations / fuel stations
• Quick-service restaurants (QSR)
• Fast-food restaurants
• Grocery or big-box retail
• Prototype-based retail programs
• High-volume, fast-paced architectural environments

Experience managing multiple locations or repeat/prototype projects is especially valuable.
