Job summary

Sprezzatura is seeking a Java Developer to sustain, enhance, and modernize mission-critical VA applications from a remote U.S. location.

The role centers on enterprise Java using legacy tech while contributing to modernization with Spring Boot, microservices, and API-driven architectures. You will design and evolve REST/ SOAP services, work with Java 17+, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, and collaborate with architects and Agile teams to deliver robust software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-7 years of software development experience.
• Strong experience with Java development.
• Experience with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot.
• Experience developing REST APIs and web services.
• Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases.
• Experience using Git-based source control.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues.
• Support enhancements and sustainment of applications using Java, Spring, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle.
• Design and implement REST and SOAP-based services and integrations.
• Develop and maintain modern backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, JPA/Hibernate, and REST APIs.
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and deployments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
