Job summary

SMX is seeking an Intermediate Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to lead security compliance and risk for cloud-based and/or classified systems. You will manage the RMF lifecycle, maintain SSP/SAP/SAR/POA&Ms, and collaborate with engineering to embed security in DevSecOps.

This role reports to senior ISSOs and operates remotely across the United States. Required are 5+ years in cybersecurity with at least 2 years as an ISSO in cloud or DoD environments, knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 and

Qualifications

• Requires expert knowledge of information assurance and RMF artifacts (SSP, SAP, SAR, POA&Ms).
• Experience with cloud security engineering and DevSecOps integration.
• Strong ability to coordinate with 3PAOs, customers, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead security authorization and continuous monitoring under RMF.
• Maintain SSP, SAP, SAR, POA&Ms, and RMF artifacts for assigned systems.
• Support RMF steps and system authorizations (ATO).
• Collaborate with engineering to integrate security into DevSecOps practices.
• Respond to security incidents and support audits and 3PAO assessments.
