Job summary

TEKsystems is looking for an IP Network Engineer I for our Anchorage, Alaska-based client. This role is remote during typical daytime business hours in the Alaska time zone, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.

You will support, implement, and maintain large-scale IP/MPLS networks. You will gain hands-on experience with carrier Ethernet and next‑generation telecom technologies while collaborating with senior engineers in a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years in networking/telecom or carrier Ethernet environments.
• Foundational IP networking concepts.
• Hands-on with routers and switches (Nokia/Alcatel preferred).
• Knowledge of BGP, OSPF or IS-IS.
• MPLS and carrier networking concepts.
• L2 tech: VLANs, STP, LACP.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to work remotely and collaborate.
• Eager to learn and grow in network engineering.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation, maintenance, and operation of IP/MPLS network infrastructure.
• Assist with testing and validating network technologies in lab and production.
• Participate in network upgrades, deployments, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot network issues with senior engineers.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to maintain reliable services.
• Monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
