Job summary

Project On Government Oversight (POGO) seeks a Social Media Editor to lead the newsroom’s day-to-day social strategy across X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. The role reports to the Digital Engagement Manager and focuses on turning investigations into platform-native content that demonstrates accountability journalism.

You will craft copy in the POGO Investigates voice, manage a multi-platform calendar, and collaborate with designers to produce video, data graphics, and engaging

Qualifications

• Three years of experience running social media for a newsroom, news outlet, or journalism nonprofit.
• Ability to create native content across formats (threads, carousels, short-form video, data graphics).
• Experience with social media management and analytics tools and translating performance data into content decisions.

Responsibilities

• Owns the social content calendar and produces platform-native content for investigations.
• Writes social copy in the newsroom voice—confident, nonpartisan, evidence-based.
• Produces recurring content across data points, archives, and spotlight content to keep accounts active between drops.
