GEICO seeks an Associate Counsel to defend lawsuits in New Jersey courts, with the role based in West Orange and remote options.

You will research laws, draft briefs and memoranda, render liability opinions for the Claims Department, and manage pleadings, motions, discovery, and depositions.

Requirements include 2–6+ years of insurance defense litigation, a Juris Doctor, and New Jersey bar admission; travel may be required. Salary ranges from $118,900 to $186,550 per year.

Qualifications

• 2 to 6+ years of experience in litigation in insurance defense or personal injury.
• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar required.
• Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in New Jersey and meet licensing requirements including CLE.
• Must be able to travel as required (trials, hearings, depositions, meetings).
• Must be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner.
• Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, and multi-task with strong organization.
