Job summary

GEICO seeks an Associate Counsel to defend lawsuits filed in Texas courts. The position is with GEICO Staff Counsel in Houston and requires TX Bar admission and a Juris Doctor degree. The role involves researching laws, preparing briefs, and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery.

Moderate travel may be required. The candidate should have 2-6+ years of related litigation experience, strong writing, and the ability to document files clearly.

Qualifications

• 2-6+ years of experience in related field litigation experience on insurance/defense/personal injury
• Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas and meet licensing requirements including CLE

Responsibilities

• Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
• Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
• Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations
• defending by trial or dispositive hearing, all matters assigned, as applicable
