Job summary

Harvey John is partnering with a tax technology startup to hire an Indirect Tax Specialist. This role serves SALT seniors, supervisors, and managers transitioning from Big 4 or mid-tier firms, bringing client-facing tax experience into a fast-growing tech environment.

You’ll be the tax expert for customers, collaborating with Success, Product, and Engineering to ensure accurate tax on the platform, with remote work across the US.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of SALT or indirect tax experience (Big 4 or mid-tier ideal).
• Strong knowledge of sales and use tax compliance: nexus, registrations, filings, notices, and VDAs.
• Experience managing client relationships and explaining complex tax issues clearly.
• Exposure to tax engines (Avalara, Vertex, Sovos) or SaaS/tech clients is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the tax expert for customers, guiding them through compliance requirements and filing processes.
• Support customer onboarding, ensuring setups for success.
• Troubleshoot complex customer issues with Tax, Product and Engineering, driving resolution.
• Convert customer feedback into product improvement ideas.
• Create customer-facing guides, documentation and best practices.
