Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing.
• 3+ years of relevant experience, including in-house at a high-growth company.
• Hands-on experience with FTC Act Section 5 and advertising compliance; GDPR, CCPA, and TCPA preferred.
• Experience running legal operations: intake workflows, contract lifecycle management, matter tracking, or legal technology.
• Experience directing paralegal or legal operations staff.
• Background supporting advisory, professional services, events, or tech businesses; investment exposure a plus.
• Uses AI and automation first, with human review when needed.
• Explains legal issues clearly to non-lawyers and builds trust across sales, operations, marketing, and vendor-facing teams.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, reviews, and negotiates agreements across the business, including vendor contracts, MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, sponsorship and partnership agreements, and event and venue contracts.
• Carries a mixed docket of dozens of open matters across entities and business units, and re-prioritizes constantly without dropping anything.
• Owns day-to-day privacy, data protection, and information security questions, escalating regulatory strategy to the General Counsel.
• Supports the General Counsel on investment documents, diligence, and litigation matters (drafting, discovery, and outside counsel coordination).
• Reviews marketing, advertising, and sales materials for FTC Act Section 5 compliance.
• Advises sales on outbound calling and texting compliance, including the TCPA and state telemarketing rules.
• Works with marketing, sales, and technology to keep improving the compliance program.
• Directs the paralegal and legal operations specialist, including workload, day-to-day priorities, and development.
• Owns intake quality: scopes unclear requests up front and reframes the ask before work starts.
• Holds the same-day acknowledgment standard. Every request gets a response, an owner, and a realistic timeline.
• Maintains and improves templates, playbooks, and AI-assisted workflows.
• Serves as the standing legal contact for internal teams, so they get fast answers without going through the general counsel.
• Flags risk and negotiation leverage to procurement during vendor discussions.
• Reviews people operations forms, policies, and processes, with the general counsel as primary on ELT-sensitive matters.
• Finds problems, owns them, and drives them to resolution.
• You act as a business partner, not a checkpoint, and you get to yes in ways that make sense for the business.
• You say no rarely enough that it carries weight; when you do, you offer a workable alternative.
• You separate material risk from noise, decide quickly with imperfect information, and speed is an advantage.
• You know when a matter belongs with the general counsel and escalate without hesitation.
