Our law firm has developed a national reputation for leaning into challenging and complex immigration cases, moving the needle forward in immigration law with progressive and high-impact litigation and advocacy.

Working at GES is a rewarding experience for those who share our mission, which is to protect and advance the rights of the immigrant community. Our core values emphasize working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; always demonstrating respect and dignity to our clients, and to ourselves; and embracing courage and creativity to overcome obstacles.

With an eye to the future, we have recently expanded our footprint from Tucson to Phoenix, and we are excited for the opportunity to serve and help more clients and their families, in Arizona, and around the world. As we continue on our journey, we remain committed to responsibly developing an organizationally healthy, diverse, and cohesive team of passionate immigration advocates.

Summary

Our law firm is seeking to hire a half-time remote immigration attorney who will be responsible for managing a caseload of various types of immigration cases. You will also be responsible for assisting full-time attorneys with various assignments, including but not limited to working with clients and witnesses to prepare them for testimony, preparing briefs and other filings for individual hearings in immigration court, and working with clients and their families to identify and develop creative detention and removal strategies.

What You'll Do

  1. Manage a caseload of immigration cases which are appropriate for remote attorney supervision
  2. Work closely with clients and their families to develop creative and effective arguments against their detention and removal
  3. Help educate clients as to how they can effectively invoke their rights to prevent or mitigate their exposure to detention and removal
  4. Conduct investigations and discovery to effectively support our clients’ claims with persuasive evidence
  5. Legal research and writing--specifically, drafting and filing motions and briefs before the immigration courts, Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
  6. Prepare and litigate applications for relief from removal, including cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, asylum, withholding of removal, Convention Against Torture (CAT), and other waivers
  7. Effectively communicate with other attorneys and experts in the field—locally and nationally—to leverage as much knowledge and advice as possible for the benefit of our clients
  8. Analyze the immigration consequences of criminal convictions by providing “Padilla consults” to criminal defense attorneys
  9. Perform consultations for potential clients who are interested in the law firm’s service

What You’ll Bring

  2. Approximately five years of legal writing experience in the field of immigration law
  3. Attorney in good standing with a state bar
