Job summary

Beckhoff Automation USA is seeking an ambitious Application Development Engineer to support the development and delivery of cutting-edge automation solutions for our customers. As part of the Advanced Applications Group, you will drive high-potential engagements through expert technical solutions and hands-on application development in a fully remote role.

You will translate complex customer needs into robust Beckhoff-based designs, collaborate with product management and regional sales, and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or related engineering discipline.
Strong foundation in signal types, low-voltage analysis, filtering, and grounding (EMF).
Proven expertise in test and measurement with NI LabVIEW, Honeywell, and DEWESoft.
Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming languages.
LabVIEW experience strongly preferred.
Rockwell and Siemens programming experience a plus.
10+ years in industrial test and measurement, automated test systems, or applications engineering.
Experience with power measurement and analysis a plus.
Experience building custom machinery a plus.
Ability to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
Able to present technical findings to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
Willingness to continuously expand skills.

Responsibilities

Serve as a pre-sales technical resource for PM, SEs, and AEs to determine fit and assess technical risk.
Communicate with customers to determine requirements and demonstrate Beckhoff product capabilities.
Evaluate challenges and provide guidance on the suitability of Beckhoff solutions.
Develop and implement proof-of-concept hardware and software solutions to reduce technical risk.
Prototype and test applications to validate concepts and quantify fit.
Test beta I/O products and provide feedback to the Product Management team.
Create and maintain effective demos and tradeshow displays.
Develop and execute I/O-specific training for Beckhoff engineering teams.
Build and maintain an advanced knowledge of Beckhoff products and related technologies.
