Job summary

Becomearoadie seeks a Director of Procurement – Protein Commodities to lead protein sourcing strategy across pork, chicken, dairy, and beef. This role ensures quality, food safety, and cost reduction while forecasting market conditions and managing vendor relationships.

The position offers a remote or hybrid schedule based on experience, with responsibilities spanning contracting, specifications, and cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous cost improvement and supplier performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field
• 7+ years of progressive purchasing or pricing experience in proteins or perishable foods
• Experience with protein suppliers, processors, packers, or production facilities
• Experience procuring pork, chicken, dairy, or beef proteins

Responsibilities

• Negotiate purchases for protein items with focus on pork, chicken, and dairy; back-up for beef procurement
• Forecast market conditions to support forecasting of needs and costs of goods sold
• Review, evaluate, and approve product specifications and supplier awards
• Monitor inventories and purchase spot products when advantageous
• Develop purchasing procedures to ensure quality while minimizing costs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cost-improvement initiatives
• Support operations and distribution partners by resolving purchasing issues
• Partner with Food Safety to address quality and safety in protein sourcing
• Research alternate vendors and coordinate evaluations, testing, and approvals
• Prepare reports and presentations on market conditions, costs, and forecasts
• Represent the company in supplier negotiations and contract formulation
