Job Description

The Dishwasher position performs a variety of cleaning, stocking, dishwashing, and minor food preparation duties in a commercial kitchen located within a restaurant setting. This position will support the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge in Bethel, AK.

This is a rotational position with a 4-weeks on & 4-weeks off schedule. Housing and three square meals per day provided. The point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK. NMS will provide airfare from YKHC Service Area to Bethel, AK for this rotational position.

Responsibilities
  • Disposes of trash in assigned receptacles.
  • Cleans various carts and trash receptacles.
  • Stocks storage areas with incoming products.
  • Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
  • Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.
  • Cleans, sweeps, wipes down, etc. all general dining, kitchen, or storage areas (in some cases), and equipment as well as all floors.
  • Assists with various periodic and scheduled cleaning projects.
  • May serve on the line to support food service production.
  • May assist manager with inventory counting.
  • Keep clean dish area clean at all times.
  • Helps maintain clean dining room, tables, and chairs.
  • Follows dress code according to department.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.
Qualifications
  • The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, callouts, etc.
  • Food Handler card, Alaska Food Workers card, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Contract requires candidate to get a flu shot pre-hire and annually thereafter.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Some prior experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of cleaning equipment/processes or a suitability for and interest in this type of work, preferred.
