Job summary

City of Flint is seeking a Teacher for Homebound/Homebased to deliver instruction to students who cannot attend school due to hospitalization or medical restrictions. The role includes coordinating services and ensuring FAPE and IEP compliance for students in IAES settings or with disciplinary removals.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with SH endorsement or SPED endorsement.
• Excellent communication and instructional skills; patient with diverse student needs.
• Strong understanding of IEP process and case management; knowledge of Special Education law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate virtual, in-home, or alternative setting instruction based on student needs.
• Provide materials and support to students, parents, and caregivers for instruction.
• Serve as liaison between student and teacher of record.
• Maintain attendance, FAPE, and IEP compliance for caseload students.
• Collaborate with District Data Specialist and LSS Data Compliance Technician on FTE reporting for Homebound/Hospitalized and IAES students.
• Review documentation for lengthy disciplinary removals for completeness and accuracy.
• Respond to Child Find obligations and revise amend IEPs as needed.
• Coordinate and provide compensatory education to assigned students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
