Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a HID Coding Trainer to educate clinicians on medical documentation and coding practices, supporting compliance and accurate reimbursement. You will audit records, deliver targeted training, and act as a subject matter expert in surgical and diagnosis coding, partnering with leadership to drive improvements.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hospital coding experience and formal credentials (RHIA/CPC/RHIT/CCS).

Qualifications

• Associate's degree/college diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field preferred.
• RHIA, CPC, RHIT or CCS required.
• Minimum 5 years of coding experience in a hospital/facility setting; 2 years in a training role preferred.
• Experience working with physicians on medical documentation and coding practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical record audits to ensure alignment with coding requirements and policies.
• Delivers individualized, specialty-specific education via one-on-one support, provider tip sheets, and virtual presentations as a subject matter expert in surgical/diagnosis coding.
• Analyzes data, communicates findings, and drives documentation and coding improvement initiatives.
• Develops educational materials and training programs with coding leadership to support performance and compliance.
