Job summary

Mutual of Omaha Mortgage seeks an experienced Underwriter to accurately evaluate and underwrite HECM reverse mortgage loan files in line with FHA HECM guidelines and company policy.

You will review loan files, set terms for approval or rejection, ensure regulatory compliance, and communicate decisions to sales and management while coordinating with operations to maintain workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in mortgage loan underwriting required.
• Reverse mortgage experience a plus.
• FHA Direct Endorsement strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate risk in accordance with FHA HECM guidelines and company policies.
• Review all aspects of the loan file, including title and appraisal reports.
• Set the terms for approval and compliance or identify reasons for rejection.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and completeness.
• Communicate loan decisions to sales channels and management.
• Input pertinent loan data into operational systems.
• Use FHA Connection to update loan data as needed.
• Collaborate with all departments to establish efficient workflows.
• Complete required checklists and worksheets.
