Job summary

Mutual of Omaha Mortgage seeks an experienced Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite HECM reverse mortgage loan files from retail and wholesale channels in line with company policy and FHA HECM guidelines.

Responsibilities include risk evaluation, file review, terms setting, regulatory compliance, and communicating decisions to sales and management; you will input data into systems and use FHA Connection for updates while collaborating across departments to ensure efficient workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 yrs in mortgage loan underwriting experience.
• Experience with reverse mortgages is a plus.
• FHA Direct Endorsement strongly preferred; Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate risk in accordance with FHA HECM guidelines and company policies.
• Review all aspects of loan files, including title and appraisal reports.
• Set terms for approval and compliance or identify reasons for rejection.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and completeness.
• Communicate loan decisions to sales channels and management.
• Input pertinent loan data into operational systems accurately.
• Update loan data via FHA Connection as needed.
• Collaborate with operations to establish efficient workflows.
• Complete required checklists and worksheets.
