Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a Reporting Accountant in the Sponsored Programs Finance office. This full-time remote role focuses on post-award accounting for grants and contracts, providing timely, accurate financial reports and compliance with sponsor guidelines.

You will collaborate with university departments to interpret procedures, gather data, and ensure reports meet deadlines, gaining experience in fund accounting and financial systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 8 accounting courses.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Google suites, and communication applications such as Zoom.

Responsibilities

• Prepare initial financial reports for post-award accounting of grants and contracts.
• Partner with university departments to interpret procedures, gather and validate financial information, and prepare and submit accurate reports to federal and other sponsoring agencies by required deadlines.
• Inactivate sponsored projects to maintain a positive cash position and prevent any additional transactions from posting.
