Job summary

Mercor is seeking experienced Go engineers to build a dataset that teaches AI agents to reason about real codebases. You will tackle tasks across major Go repos, requiring runtime investigation and deep understanding of large systems.

Work is fully remote in Mercor Studio, with tasks assigned from a pre-validated pool and paid per approved task. You will document findings, iterate with reviewers, and contribute to sophisticated codebase understanding across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial production Go
• Ability to navigate a large unfamiliar Go codebase and explain runtime behavior
• Fluency in Go concurrency, interfaces, module boundaries, and standard library; comfortable with build tooling
• Experience with distributed systems, networking, storage engines, or Kubernetes-ecosystem tooling
• Precise written English: the questions and rubrics you write are the product
• Comfortable with git at commit level and containerized environments

Responsibilities

• Select tasks from a pre-validated pool of Go repositories, each pinned to a specific git commit
• Explore the repository until you understand the subsystem and related PR/issue history
• Rewrite the task's question to defeat frontier coding agents while remaining well-defined
• Adjust rubrics and foils to reward correct reasoning
• Run the full validation loop in Studio — Check, Golden, Run, Analyze — and iterate
• Document work in the task README and address reviewer feedback
