Job summary

Upwork is seeking experienced Geospatial Research & Analysis Experts to support an AI-training project focused on developing expert-level workflows. You will review open-ended geospatial questions, identify missing information, and create detailed, defensible workflows for solving real-world spatial problems.

Selected candidates may work as Operator or Quality Assurance (QA) based on assessment outcomes. Strong GIS skills (QGIS, ArcGIS, GeoPandas) and clear English communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in GIS or geospatial field.
• Strong geospatial expertise from work or research.
• Experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, GeoPandas, GEE, or Google Earth.
• Ability to evaluate complex questions and explain analytical methods.
• Strong written English and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review geospatial queries and identify gaps or unclear terms.
• Propose clarifications and reasonable assumptions.
• Develop detailed workflows for geospatial analysis.
• Identify data sources, tools, methods, and validation steps.
• Define deliverables such as maps and reports.
• Apply geospatial knowledge to real-world scenarios.
• For QA, review completed work and provide feedback.
