Job summary

RCH Solutions is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-native services on Google Cloud Platform for research and bioinformatics workloads. You will develop microservices and web applications enabling researchers to access data, pipelines, and compute, while building workflow orchestration for scalable pipelines.

You will drive architecture, roadmaps, and best practices across projects, engaging with Life Sciences customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering or software engineering with production workloads on Google Cloud Platform
• Experience designing and deploying microservices with containerization and REST or gRPC API development
• Experience with a workflow orchestration framework for scientific or data pipelines (e.g., Nextflow, Cromwell, Snakemake, Airflow)
• Demonstrated systems integration across cloud services, applications, and data sources
• Web application development experience, full stack or backend with frontend proficiency
• Proficiency in Python and Linux environment
• Excellent communication, writing IT docs for colleagues and end users
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Bioinformatics, or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy microservices and APIs on Google Cloud Platform for scientific workloads
• Develop and maintain web applications giving researchers self-service access to data, pipelines, and compute
• Build, operate, and optimize workflow orchestration for bioinformatics pipelines
• Integrate cloud services, scientific apps, and data systems through maintainable interfaces
• Ensure systems comply with security standards and regulatory requirements
• Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate with IT teams as needed
