Job summary

ZigTale is looking for its first full-time engineer to build our app daily, remotely, with weekly in-person meetings. You’ll own your work end to end, fix slow taps, off-model illustrations, and typos, testing on real devices and shipping with care.

You’ll report to an advisor who helps steer the platform while founders work remotely. We’re a child-focused storytelling startup, bringing drawings and ideas to life with safe, simple tech.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping a production web app with real users.
• Solid engineering and devops fundamentals in TS/React, SQL, APIs.
• Hands-on with generative media tools or models.
• Skeptical mindset for AI outputs and testing.

Responsibilities

• Ship features end to end in a TS/React web app.
• Own AI features quality: prompts, model choice, speed, cost, failures.
• Test on iPhone, iPad and Android with screenshot evidence.
• Protect children’s data with privacy-first design and COPPA mindset.
• Run multiple AI coding agents and keep tests green.
• Read beta feedback and fix friction quickly.
• Document learnings: runbooks and incident notes.
