Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a Structural Engineer to perform damage assessment and failure analysis for commercial, residential, and industrial structures. This remote role from a home-based office requires the ability to travel locally or regionally and may prefer candidates in Southern California.

The ideal candidate will investigate events, provide expert opinions, and contribute to profitable consulting services for insurers and clients while maintaining high standards of ethics and scientific rigor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; multi-state licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Determine origin and causes of structural failures in roofs, water intrusion, post-fire damage, storm damage, and other building faults.
• Survey losses and loss scenes in residential and commercial buildings.
• Investigate and document the scope of damage from acute events.
• Assess damages and determine the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.
• Analyze and document failure analysis and causation.
• Collaborate with investigators to produce detailed reports on causes of losses.
• Serve as an expert witness in court and depositions.
