Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect and scale relational and distributed SQL databases, spanning MySQL, TiDB and PostgreSQL. You will own the control plane for provisioning, failover, backups, and upgrades in a large production environment.

You will design zero-downtime migrations, optimize SQL performance, and ensure robust networking between services and storage on Kubernetes. Collaboration with product, design and analytics is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience with large-scale database deployments in production environments.
• Expertise in distributed databases (MySQL, TiDB, Postgres, Spanner, Vitess, CockroachDB).
• Experience with Kubernetes networking, service discovery and TLS.

Responsabilités

• Architect, build and scale relational and distributed SQL databases.
• Own control plane for databases, automating provisioning, failover, backups and upgrades.
• Design and execute zero-downtime migrations across multi-tenant clusters.
• Own networking stack connecting services to storage on Kubernetes.
• Deliver quarterly team goals and mentor engineers.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics through the lifecycle.
