Job summary

KoBold Metals seeks a Manufacturing Engineer in Berkeley to turn prototype hardware into repeatable, well-documented production systems within our Advanced Technology Group. You’ll own the lab, shop floor, receiving, and the supply chain, collaborating closely with design and field teams to scale hardware builds.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering (or equivalent).
• 3–5 years in manufacturing, production, or hardware build engineering.
• Hands-on experience managing hardware builds and shop/lab environments.
• Experience with sourcing and vendor development.
• Inventory and materials management knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage hardware builds from prototype to low-volume production.
• Own the lab and shop floor operations, including safety and layout.
• Establish and enforce documentation and quality practices.
• Source components and manage supplier relationships.
• Maintain BOMs, revisions, and change controls.
