Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Financial Manager to support the College of Letters & Science Administration - Finance. You will help optimize unit budgets, ensure policy compliance, and lead a small finance team while coordinating with department admins and campus partners.

The role offers hybrid work with remote flexibility up to 3 days per week and on-site presence at least 2 days weekly. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, with strong Excel and communication skills essential.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in accounting/finance and/or budgeting/forecasting with financial systems experience
• Ability to foster collaborative relationships with department admins, supervisors, staff and campus partners
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with ability to interpret and summarize financial data
• Strong written and verbal communication, administrative and organizational skills
• Evidence of using sound judgement when applying laws, rules, policies, and procedures
• Experience with improving processes, managing change, or applying systems thinking

Responsibilities

• Facilitate budgeting, policy interpretation and financial planning for units
• Oversee supervision of at least 2.0 FTE, including hiring, transfer, discipline and performance
• Audit financial charges, credits and authorize payments
• Develop, maintain and monitor automated financial information systems
• Advise unit leadership on financial operations and reporting
• Direct financial and accounting operations across multiple areas and coordinate data management, budget prep and reporting
• Analyze financial information and make recommendations to leadership
