Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Financial Access Specialist to support post-acute admissions across IRF, LTAC, and SNF services. Under the Patient Access Manager, you will verify insurance eligibility and manage prior authorizations, ensuring accurate Epic documentation and timely admissions.

You will collaborate with Admissions, Case Management, Financial Counseling, and leadership to identify financial risks, negotiate with payers when needed, and maintain compliant, efficient revenue cycle

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in patient access/hospital registration or revenue cycle.
• Epic experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with prior authorizations and insurance verifications.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits for post-acute admissions.
• Initiate and manage prior authorization requests through to final determination.
• Document authorization activity in Epic (Auth/Cert) for all stakeholders.
• Identify benefit limitations and financial risks; escalate as needed.
• Negotiate with payers and non-contracted payers when required.
• Monitor Epic Workqueues to support timely admissions and referrals.
• Communicate authorization updates and requests to stakeholders.
• Record accurate authorization determinations to support utilization reviews.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Case Management, and Financial Counseling.
