Job summary

Alfa Laval is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician focused on controls and automation. The role emphasizes installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HVAC and electrical systems, with extensive travel across the US and internationally. Remote-friendly with preference for home location in the Eastern US.

You’ll interpret schematics, train customers, and ensure safety standards while delivering excellent service and support. Relevant PLC/HMI and VFD know-how are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years field service in mechanical, electrical or automation industries.
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings, manuals, P&ID/PFDs.
• HVAC certification is a plus; travel 75–85% domestically and internationally.
• Proficient with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI software; capable of VFD troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and maintain electrical control systems and PLCs.
• Provide on-site troubleshooting and repair for complex issues.
• Interpret schematics, drawings, and diagrams accurately.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, and controls.
• Train customers and share best practices for operation and upkeep.
• Document service activities with reports and logs.
• Maintain high levels of customer service and communication.
• Travel 75–85% across the US and internationally as needed.
