Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated field claims professional to join our team in a hybrid role. After initial in-person training, you may enjoy work-from-home flexibility defined by leadership while handling multi-line property and casualty claims.

The position emphasizes investigation, evaluation, and timely resolution of claims, serving agents, insureds, and others with strong attention to policy details and accuracy. A strong driving record and field readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or direct equivalent experience handling property and casualty claims
• A minimum of 3 years handling multi-line property and casualty claims with an emphasis on property claims
• Field claims handling experience is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of Xactimate software is preferred but not required
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to resolve complex issues and interpret data
• Ability to manage multiple assignments
• Ability to work with diverse individuals
• Strong mathematical and financial reasoning for claims documents
• Valid driver license and ability to drive as part of field duties

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate the amount of loss, and analyze liability
• Handle multi-line property and casualty claims in an assigned territory with emphasis on property claims
• Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying policies, endorsements and forms
• Work toward resolution of claims and attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions or trials as necessary
• Ensure claims payments are issued timely and accurately
• Handle investigations by phone, mail and on-site investigations
