Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated field claims professional to join our team. After initial training in-person, this role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 5 days per week.

The position involves field claims handling from investigation to resolution, serving agents, insureds and others, in a full lifecycle under general supervision. Requires mastery of claims-handling skills and data interpretation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience handling property and casualty claims.
• Minimum of 3 years handling multi-line property and casualty claims with emphasis on property claims.
• Field claims handling experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Xactimate software is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage and evaluate loss.
• Handle multi-line property and casualty claims in assigned territory.
• Become familiar with insurance policies, endorsements and forms.
• Work toward resolution of claims and attend arbitrations, mediations or trials as needed.
• Ensure claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
• Handle investigations by phone, mail and on-site investigations.
